(Post 3 of 3)

Before we leave Hraun-Háls, we visit in the kitchen over cake, whipped cream and fresh milk. Eyberg drinks almost nothing but milk – about 4 litres per day – and the sample he shares with us is rich and delicious (4.4% fat). We look at the trophies they have won for their cows and share stories about our families (my dad and Eyberg share a love of old tractors). Here, we are looking over the map and choosing where to go.

It’s time for Eric and I to head to northern Iceland, where Eyberg and Lauga will introduce us to a friend.

The next part of our road trip begins now, though we are sad to say goodbye.
