Finnbogi Jóhannsson has been in the background all day, but his leadership is clear. His family has been working these fields for generations, and he has owned this specific farm for 32 years.
Finnbogi knows the best course, the right pace, and how to keep his sheep safe. They are very tired from the drive down the mountain and now the homestretch. It’s warm today, for Iceland, so they risk overheating too.
We have been at the sheep round-up all day, evening is falling and so is the rain. The sheep, and the family, have finally arrived back home.
It was an honour to spend the day with them, and we got invited for supper! More on that in our next posts.
