New perspectives

One of the things that makes Copenhagen so fabulous is a very tall steeple wrapped in a golden staircase. Walk up, up, up and here you are. The canals open towards the salt water which soon becomes the North Atlantic that has led so many people over the centuries towards Greenland. These harbours below used to house Arctic products, such as seal blubber that was destined to shed light across Europe. It was from these docks that explorers including Knud Rasmussen departed for the north. And it was these neighbourhoods that Inuit from Greenland began to call home away from home.

We came here to get a new perspective and to peel back a few layers of the complex relationship between Denmark and Greenland. More to come on that as we head north ourselves in the morning.
