The best medicine

The north has shown me so many different ways to family – enough that yes, I just made family a verb. What you see here is a portrait of love, certainly, but also of support, acceptance, and diversity. Within this circle, a unique vision of family is practiced. Children have many role models to turn to. Adults have many roles. A chosen family is just as strong as any other.

What would you hear if you were in this room? Laughter! In the south, we don’t learn about all the laughter that happens up north. When it comes to Nunavut, we mostly hear the sad stuff, but no person is defined by his/her/their sadness. Life is too complex for that.
