Home away from home

She’s a home away from home for many of us, and as I look out the snowy windows here in Canada tonight, part of me is still with her.

For those of you working on board right now, whether you ever read this or not, I am thinking of you, the ice, that gorgeous evening light, and all of the memories we share – more and more each year.

It’s okay to have more than one place that feels like home, but it can be extra work for the heart.

For now, I’m headed out into the snow of my hometown. Colder than the Antarctic peninsula and beautiful in an entirely different way.

Merry Christmas. Stay safe out there.
