(Post 2 of 2) This disco ball has been passed between boats coming and going from Disko Bay, Greenland. The captain, Aldert Hesseling, his son Jurjen and crewmembers Jim and Huibrecht are crossing Baffin Bay right now. When will Aldert arrive home to the Netherlands after his round the world voyage? “October 31st at 3…

Canada bound, Baffin Bay
This moody iceberg marked the route between Greenland and Baffin Island. I am now back in Nunavut, Canada. I’ll be heading further and further north for the next two weeks. Photo by David Cothran.

Prince Regent Inlet, Nunavut
Gifts come in all shapes and sizes. I wanted to include at least one introduction to the polar bear with #meetthenorth. Here are two yearling cubs hanging out on the sea ice below the bow of our ship. This is an iPhone photo. No zoom, no filter.

Athlete in Pond Inlet, Nunavut

Artist rendezvous, Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada
(Post 1 of 4) This is the place I was looking for. Just another house, or so I thought. I walked all around the neighbourhood this afternoon looking for the artist Matthew Nuqingaq. I didn’t know this was his studio, and I didn’t find anyone nearby, so I gave up and went for a cup…

(Post 2 of 4) The first thing I noticed at the Baffin Deli was this necklace, and then the guy wearing it. I stopped to ask him about it, only to find out that he is Matthew Nuqingaq, the guy I was looking for. He brought me back here, to his studio. Notice the homemade…
